A practical, evidence based program that equips leaders to hold people accountable without damaging relationships. Grounded in 30 years of research and proven with senior leaders around the world.
“Why is this late again? I shouldn’t have to keep chasing you.”
OI didn’t make clear how much depended on this report. OIt arrived Thursday, two days after we agreed. RI need it by Tuesday so the team can prepare. ACan we agree on that, and what would help you get there?
Same issue. Different conversation. Different result.
Every organisation says it values honesty, ownership and high standards. Yet the gap between stated values and daily behaviour can drain up to 40% of an organisation’s time and energy. Much of that loss hides inside conversations that never happen, or that happen badly.
None of this is a character flaw. These are conditioned, stress driven reactions: the fast brain protecting us from discomfort. Under pressure, even capable leaders default to pleasing, controlling or avoiding. The result is lower standards, slower learning and eroding trust, all at once.
of an organisation’s time and energy can be drained by the gap between values and behaviour.
Most feedback training fails because it teaches scripts to people who are still reacting from the Red Zone. Under pressure, the script disappears and the reflex takes over. Accountable Conversations works differently. It addresses what drives the behaviour, not just the behaviour itself.
The foundation of the program. In any difficult situation there is always a part each person can own, including the leader. When a conversation starts with genuine ownership, defensiveness drops and honest challenge becomes possible.
Leaders learn to recognise their own habitual reactions (approval, control or security) and to choose a deliberate, values driven response instead. This is self regulation in practice, the capacity every other conversation skill depends on.
A simple, in the moment tool for pausing the fast brain before a difficult conversation goes off course.
Drivers → Behaviours → Outcomes · Mindset and systems drive behaviour. Behaviour drives results. We work on all three.
Four steps that turn a difficult conversation into a shared commitment. Simple enough to remember in the moment. Rigorous enough to change what happens next.
Start with your part. What did you contribute, allow or leave unsaid?
Describe what happened in specific, factual terms, free of judgement or story.
Ask clearly for what needs to change, and why it matters.
Close with a mutual commitment: who does what, by when, and how you will both know.
Three 4 hour modules build the foundation. Six 2 hour practice sessions turn it into habit. That is 24 hours of structured development, with practice sessions every two to four weeks so leaders apply each step on real conversations in between.
| Stage | Time | What leaders gain |
|---|---|---|
| Module 1: Foundations | 4 hours | The Red Zone and Green Zone, and a clear view of their own default reactions under pressure |
| Module 2: Mindset | 4 hours | 200% Accountability, clear intention, and S.O.B.E.R. for self regulation in the moment |
| Module 3: Skillset | 4 hours | The OORA framework, rehearsed on the conversations they are actually facing |
| Practice sessions | 6 × 2 hours | Live practice, coaching and reflection until the approach holds under real pressure |
Insight alone changes nothing. Practice does.
TripleGoal’s research across global organisations shows that Green Zone leadership behaviours drive a 50% improvement in performance, agility and engagement, while Red Zone behaviours correlate with a 45% reduction. Accountable conversations are where those behaviours show up most visibly. They move all three outcomes at once.
Clear expectations, honest follow through and standards that actually hold.
Mistakes surfaced early, discussed openly and fixed fast.
People who feel respected enough to be told the truth, and safe enough to tell it.
Psychological safety without accountability is comfortable. Accountability without safety is fear. The goal is both.
“This is without doubt one of the most useful courses I have ever attended.”
“Accountable Conversations is crucial for any organisation that wants to build workplace relationships without toxicity and conflict.”
“Since this session our team has really opened up and we are speaking more honestly and constructively to each other than ever before. Our relationship with key stakeholders involved in the session has also dramatically improved and has stayed good since the programme. We can highly recommend the Accountable Conversations Process.”
“I loved this program. Learning, with colleagues, a way to communicate with no anger, no blame, but clear concise words chosen to express needs and create solutions gave me confidence that moving forward I would be able to communicate with my teammates and my manager in a way superior to what we had been doing previously. Can’t wait to put it in action!”

Accountable Conversations is built on the research and frameworks of TripleGoal, the award winning leadership development organisation founded by Michael Bunting. TripleGoal’s work is grounded in more than 30 years of original research and practice with senior leaders and organisations worldwide, including as part of the MBA program at the University of Sydney.
The program uses the same language as TripleGoal’s Leadership Growth Profile, Vertical Growth Leadership Program and Team Development Program. Leaders who start here can go deeper, and the shared language keeps compounding across an organisation.
